Ordering Day-Old Chicks - Step by Step

Important: Boxes of 100 Only

We do not offer split boxes or smaller quantities.

All chicks are sold in full boxes of 100 chicks per breed, per delivery location.

Ordering Process

  1. Browse Our Varieties

Review our available breeds here. We offer four layer breeds and one meat breed, all suited for commercial free-range operations. We also offer live roosters.

  2. Plan Ahead - 4 Week Lead Time Required

We hatch to order, so orders must be placed online or paid for via invoice (when approved by our team) at least four weeks prior to each hatch period. This ensures we can plan production to meet your exact requirements.

  3. Select Your Preferred Hatch Date

We do our best to have chicks available on the specific hatch dates advertised, but these are live animals and their health is our top priority. This means that, on rare occasions, hatch dates may have to change. We will contact you regarding your order should you be impacted.

  4. Choose Your Delivery Airport

Select your preferred airport for shipping. Our flat rate price includes air freight to all major airports. A number of regional airports are also available, these incur an additional charge of $40 per box which must be added to your online order. Contact us directly to discuss shipping to other airports.

  5. Place Your Order Online

Select the quantity of 100-chick boxes for each variety you'd like, choose your delivery location, add any Regional Airport Charges that apply, and complete your secure purchase through our online store.

  6. Receive Confirmation

You'll receive an email confirmation regarding your order immediately after purchase.

  7. Pickup Details

We'll confirm flight, arrival, and pickup details with you at least 24 hours prior to your chicks being available. Your chicks will be available for pick-up at the applicable freight depot (Qantas, Virgin Australia or Rex) at your chosen airport, typically on the afternoon of the selected hatch date. At times, and depending on location, they may be available for pick-up on the following day.

  8. Collect Your Chicks

Pick up your chicks as per the instructions sent. Please ensure that they are transferred to your pre-prepared brooder/s as quickly as possible upon your return home.

Air Freight: Safe and Specialised

Ensuring the health and safety of your chicks is our highest priority.

Air-freighting day-old chicks is very similar to the experience when flying pets interstate:

  • Purpose-designed transport boxes ensure comfort and safety
  • Temperature-controlled conditions maintained throughout journey
  • Chicks are priority cargo for loading and unloading
  • Transport time minimised through direct routing

Recommended Practice

While potentially possible depending on your location, we recommend that you collect your chicks from the applicable airport location, rather than having them transferred to secondary commercial transport. This ensures:

  • You can oversee their health upon arrival
  • They receive your care as soon as possible
  • No additional stress from secondary transport
  • Direct accountability for their condition
